Cosmetogynecology is a rapidly expanding field of gynecology and plastic surgery which helps the patients to improve the functionality and aesthetics of external and internal genital organs. Negative effects of multiple childbirths and anatomical malformations can be surgically removed.

The most common procedures performed in our clinic are the following:

VAGINOPLASTY

Vaginoplasty or more specifically vaginoperineoplastics (plastics of the vagina and perineum), is a standard and one of the most frequently performed cosmetic procedure in gynecology. It is usually performed in patients who suffered from rupturing or stretching of the vagina and perineum during child delivery (this applies to more than 90% of women giving birth vaginally) and in patients exposed to other factors causing similar effects.

Patients who choose to undergo vaginoplasty are often guided by the desire to improve the functionality of their genital organs and the quality of their sexual life.

Preoperative recommendations

The treatment is preceded by a consultation visit. The following tests must be performed (it is possible to conduct them on-site):

- blood group
- morphology
- urine analysis
- coagulation blood tests - APTT, INR, PT
- ECG after the age of 40
- HBS antigen
- electrolytes
- blood sugar level

Patients are not allowed to take neither aspirin  (including its derivatives e.g. Acard), Vitamin E nor any cough and anti-flu medicine for the period of two weeks before the procedure. Thus these kind of drugs adversely affect the bleeding process.

Please limit smoking to 3-4 cigarettes a 3 days prior to surgery.

Please inform the doctor about any infections that took place two weeks prior to surgery.

Patient should remain six hours of fasting  (no eating or drinking)  before the surgery.

Procedure description - an overview

The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia, however there is a possibility to perform it under local anesthesia on the patient’s special request. The duration of this procedure ranges between 30 and 90 minutes.

The operation applies to both the mucosal and muscular vagina. As a result of the operation a vaginal stenosis is obtained. This reduces the risk of genital organs infection and significantly improves the quality of sexual life.

During this procedure all stitches are made with absorbable threads.

This procedure might be combined with a full labioplasty.

Postoperative Period

After the procedure the patient usually stays at the Clinic overnight and is discharged home the next day. A follow up visit should take place after about 7 days.

The patient regains her total physical activity after a few days and a total sexual activity after 4-6 weeks. Normally it takes about 7 days for the wound to completely heal and the swelling to descent. After the surgery the patient may experience a persistent pain, which might be soothed with OTC painkillers, or a slightly increased body temperature (up to 37,5oC).

The patient should gently wash and dry the intimate area with a delicate towel several times a day. It should be done by touching, rather than rubbing as it might be the cause of the stitches rupturing.

Scrupulous adherence to the recommendations described is a key operative for a rapid recovery and significantly affects the final result of the surgery.
