BOTOX
The injection of Botox (the botulinum toxin) causes a slight paralysis of the muscles responsible for wrinkle appearance on the forehead and around the eyes. It works only on those muscles, to which it was injected, while others fully retain their existing functionality. This treatment is usually used to remove wrinkles between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines and so-called crow's feet.
Procedure description
The treatment is virtually painless and therefore does not require local anesthesia. Duration is usually 15 minutes or longer depending on the amount of wrinkles corrected.
Effect
The full effect is visible at least 14 days after surgery and lasts for about 6 months. The skin is smooth and free of wrinkles.
The treatment can be repeated many times, and each successive injection prolongs the persistence of the effect.
Side effects
The most common side effects include bruising and tenderness of injected areas. It is possible that the injected Botox will affect the adjacent muscles, causing weakness of their work. In exceptional circumstances, there may occur eyelid and eyebrows dropping. These symptoms should disappear after 1-2 weeks. After this procedure patients may experience a headache.
Postoperative recommendations
Four hours after the treatment, the patients should neither bend nor lie down. They also should not use the solarium and sauna for a week after the procedure.
